Common ILVE Range Problems

Has a burner on your ILVE Majestic range stopped lighting reliably? Is your dual-fuel oven failing to hold a steady temperature for delicate baking? Whatever the issue, our ILVE repair specialists can resolve it.

Because we're factory-authorized, we service every ILVE platform — Majestic, Nostalgie, Mangiare, and Pro Series — including dual-fuel models, all-gas ranges, and the brand's matching range hoods. The most common ILVE repair issues we resolve include:

ILVE Range Burner Won't Light

Common Cause: Clogged Igniter or Burner Port

An ILVE burner that clicks but won't ignite, or that lights inconsistently, is one of the most common service calls we get on Italian gas ranges — and the cause is rarely a serious mechanical failure.

The most frequent culprit is simply a fouled igniter. ILVE ranges use sealed brass burner caps with precision-machined ports, and over time food spillover, cleaning solution residue, and Miami's humid air can build up on the spark electrode tip. A careful cleaning with a non-metallic brush usually restores reliable ignition.

If cleaning doesn't resolve it, the spark module (the unit that generates the high-voltage pulse to all the burner igniters), the spark switch behind the knob, or the igniter electrode itself may need replacement. ILVE uses Italian-spec components, so genuine parts and proper alignment matter.

Our ILVE range technicians arrive with the most common ignition components in stock, complete a full burner-by-burner test, and most often have your range lighting reliably again in a single visit. Schedule your ILVE repair today.

ILVE Oven Won't Maintain Temperature

Common Cause: Failed Thermocouple or Sensor

An ILVE oven that swings wildly between under- and over-temperature, or that simply won't reach the dial setting, almost always points to a failed temperature feedback component — either the thermocouple on gas ovens or the RTD temperature sensor on dual-fuel and electric ovens.

On gas ILVE ovens, the thermocouple's job is to confirm the oven flame is actually burning and to feed temperature data back to the control. When it weakens, the oven either fails to ignite at all (if the safety system shuts gas off), or it ignites but cycles erratically. Replacement is straightforward but requires genuine ILVE parts to ensure correct length and probe specifications.

On dual-fuel and electric models, the RTD sensor at the rear of the cavity reports temperature to the control board. A drift in the sensor's calibration causes the oven to overshoot or undershoot the setpoint by 25-50°F, which is brutal for any baking work.

Our technicians will diagnose the precise feedback failure, install genuine ILVE replacement parts, and verify oven calibration before we leave. Schedule your ILVE oven repair today.

ILVE Range Hood Fan Not Working

Common Cause: Failed Capacitor

ILVE matching range hoods — the wall-mount and island-mount units that pair with the brand's ranges — most often fail not because the motor itself has burned out, but because the run capacitor that helps the motor start has degraded.

The symptom is distinctive: the hood lights still work, the speed buttons still light up, but the fan either runs very slowly, hums without spinning, or refuses to start at all. A weak capacitor is the most common cause of all three symptoms.

Other ILVE hood issues include failed control PCBs (the small circuit board behind the touch buttons), worn motor bearings on hoods that have been pulling humid Miami air for many years, and lighting transformer failures on the halogen-equipped models.

Our technicians service ILVE range hoods regularly and carry the most common capacitors, control boards, and motor assemblies. Schedule your ILVE range hood repair with AG Appliance Service today.

ILVE Oven Door Won't Close Properly

Common Cause: Worn Hinges or Damaged Gasket

An ILVE range oven door that no longer sits flush against the cavity — visible as an obvious gap at the top, a door that springs back when closed, or a door that requires significant force to latch — almost always traces to one of two failures: worn-out spring hinges or a damaged door gasket.

ILVE uses heavy spring-loaded door hinges to support the substantial weight of their multi-pane glass doors. After thousands of open-close cycles, the springs lose tension and the door no longer pulls itself shut against the gasket. The symptom is distinctive: the door feels "loose" and the oven loses heat through the gap, leading to longer preheats and uneven cooking.

The braided fiberglass door gasket is the second suspect. Years of self-clean cycles and ordinary wear flatten the gasket so it can no longer compress to seal the cavity. Visible gaps in the gasket itself, or burn marks on the front of the cavity from heat escaping, both confirm the diagnosis.

Our ILVE technicians replace hinges and gaskets with genuine Italian-spec parts, recalibrate the door alignment, and verify a proper seal before we leave. Schedule your ILVE oven repair today.
